Posted: Updated:

Police in Wolcott are looking for a man they believe attempted to lure two children into his van Saturday night.

Wolcott police received a call from a resident on Woodtick Road stating that her 8-year-old and 10-year-old nephew were playing in the front yard when a blue minivan stopped in front of the residence.

The operator of the minivan exited the vehicle and stood in the roadway.

The operator held out his right hand and asked the 8-year-old if he wanted some candy.

Police describe the operator as a white male, approximately 6' tall with short brown hair and a thick brown beard, a thin build but with a large stomach.

The suspect also had a tattoo on the underside of his right wrist.

Police believe the suspect is in his mid 30s. He was last seen wearing a white, long T-shirt with green camouflage shorts.

Police searched for the blue van but were not able to locate it.

The Waterbury Police Department was alerted of the incident as well as police departments across the state.

If anyone has information concerning this person or the van, contact the Wolcott Police Department at 203-879-1414.
