Police in several shoreline communities are reviewing video of a burglar in action after breaking into a popular bar. Now the suspect may be wanted in other similar cases.
The Lyme Tavern, which is located at 229 West Main St., was burglarized early Tuesday morning, police said.
The suspect ripped a screen and crawled through the narrow 16 x 16 window, according to police.
"The alarm company calls me when there is a breach," said Steven Carpenteri, the owner of the Lyme Tavern. "They call me, they call police, the alarm goes off, they also call me."
A surveillance picture and video of the suspect was released Thursday.
"The only time we can get things back sometimes is through video surveillance," East Lyme police Sgt. Wilfred Blanchette said.
Detectives told Eyewitness News the best deterrent in these commercial burglaries is a modern, surveillance equipment that works and records clean pictures.
Eyewitness News learned that police in Groton are also looking at this video because they have similar crimes they're investigating.
Anyone with any information is asked to call state police at 860-739-5900 or 860-848-6500.
