Extra patrols planned for weekend concerts in Hartford

Whether its alternative, hip hop or jam band, the X-L Center will be the place to be for all type of music lovers this weekend.

The Pearl Jam concert is set to kick off Friday night. Hartford police told Eyewitness News they are already expecting a lot of congestion as concert goers are coming into the city, and the people who work in Hartford are headed home. Don't expect too much relief Saturday for the Drake concert.

While the hip hop star takes the stage, local bar, Russian Lady, along with KISS 95.7 FM are holding their Boo Bash Block Party Saturday on the other side of the X-L Center. So if you use Ann Uccello Street to get into the city, that area is going to be blocked off starting around 5 p.m.

Last but not least, Phish are coming to the X-L Center on Sunday. You may remember the last time the jam band was in town there were eight arrests at the concert and police seized several narcotics.

Hartford police said their narcotics unit will be out in full force on Sunday.

Hartford police Lt. Brian Foley said the department will have its "largest traffic detail division" out in the city starting Friday night.

"You'll see police motorcycles. The mounted unit will be down here," Foley said. "All the resources that we will have in the downtown area to get the traffic out and get the traffic in, running smoothly.
