The father accused of violently shaking and killing his 2-month-old old son when he wouldn't stop crying is due in court Monday.
Adam Browne, 24, was initially charged with risk of injury to a minor, but more charges are expected after the baby died over the weekend.
Police said Browne was the only adult inside the New London home when his son Jovanni stopped breathing. According to the police report Browne was watching his son and his girlfriend's two young children while she worked the overnight shift at a Norwich Dunkin Donuts.
Neighbors said they could hear the baby crying all night.
At some point, police said Browne picked the baby up under both arms and shook him "five or six times" when he wouldn't stop crying. Police said Browne then went outside to calm down, but when he came back the baby wasn't breathing.
That's when he called 911.
Police said at first Browne denied it, saying he didn't do anything before eventually breaking down and confessing to shaking the little boy.
He's being held on $500,000 bond and has been placed on suicide watch.
