A nightclub in New Haven remains shut down after a shooting left one woman dead and five other people injured.
The Key Club Cabaret is a popular strip club in the elm city
Shots were fired inside the Key Club Cabaret, which is located at 85 Saint John St., around 3:30 a.m.
More than 100 patrons were inside the club at the time and rushed out of the building. When officers arrived, 26-year-old Erica Robinson was dead.
Police said 19-year-old Amanda John, 29-year-old Jahad Brumsey, 24-year-old Nijia Ward, 34-year-old Albert Dickerson and 25-year-old Ivette Sterling were injured.
Dickerson has been released from the hospital, his family told Eyewitness News.
Robinson's death was the 16th homicide of the year in New Haven. Police added 10 people have been shot at nightclubs this year and four killed in those shootings.
New Haven police say their investigation into a fatal nightclub shooting is being helped by quality surveillance video.
The New Haven Register reports that police spokesman Officer David Hartman said it's probably the clearest surveillance video he's seen.
Mayor John DeStefano called for more policing of New Haven following the recent shooting. He said the following:
Police said they will work with the liquor commission to do everything they can to keep Key Club Caberet closed.
However, when Eyewitness News called the Key Club Caberet, someone answered and told the station that it is unclear when the nightclub will reopen.
