Man charged with stealing $100K in jewelry from grandmother

ROSSFORD, OH (Toledo News Now) -

Agrandmother's home was broken into and her jewelry stolen, and Rossford Policesay her own grandson is the suspect.

Policesay 21-year-old William "Billy" Wesley broke a window in order to gain accessto his grandmother's house on Marilyn Drive. He walked away with nearly$100,000 in jewelry and whatever else he could carry. He stashed some of thestolen property at his home and the rest in a vacant house.

Thepolice say it was Wesley's odd behavior that tipped them off. They say hearrived at the crime scene at the same time as police and pretended not to knowabout the burglary.

"[Thieves]take someone's personal belongings usually so they can be resold," said PoliceChief Glenn Goss. "My guess would be for money."

Wesleyhas been charged with felony second-degree burglary. The stolen property wasreturned to his grandmother.
