Chesterfield Police: Suspect meets robbery victim online

Two men are behind bars following a bizarre robbery that began on the web and ended in gunfire at the victim's Chesterfield County home.

28-year-old Juma Kubweza and 25-year-old Gregory Boatwright are charged with kidnapping, robbery and attempted shooting, among other charges in connection with the alleged crime.

According to Chesterfield police, one of the suspects met the victim online. Plans were then made for the suspect to meet at the victim's home in 7400 block of Hilmar Drive.

Once inside, the suspect let the other one in. Court documents show, the suspects wouldn't let the victim leave. They allegedly robbed him of flat screen TVs, clothes and even his car.

At one point, investigators say the robbery grew violent when Boatwright shot at the victim but luckily, the bullet didn't hit him.

Kubweza and Boatwright were later arrested in Henrico in the stolen car. They will remain in jail until their court date in January.

NBC12 went to the victim's home but he didn't want to speak with us saying, the crime happened last week and he doesn't want to re-live it.

Experts say if you plan to meet someone you've met online, meet in a public place; tell a friend or relative of your plans; and bring someone with you.
