Louisa man charged with attempted first-degree murder, arson

LOUISA, VA (WWBT) -

A Louisa man is facing attempted murder and arson charges following a structure fire in Mineral.

According to Virginia State Police, Nicholas C. Secret, 26, was arrested and charged with one count of attempted murder in the first degree and one count of arson.

The structure involved was a two-story communal living residence. Eighteen people were inside at the time of the fire and all were evacuated successfully.

Secret is being held without bond at the Central Virginia Regional Jail pending his arraignment on November 7 at the Louisa County General District Court. According to the Central Virginian newspaper, the Virginia State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigations team used a bloodhound to help identify Secret as the suspect.

State Police Arson Investigators are continuing their arson investigation and are consulting with the Louisa County Commonwealth Attorney's Office.
