A teacher in Fairfield faced a judge after being accused of having had sex with one on of his students at least 17 times.
Glenn Mishuck, 47, of Bridgeport, was arrested Thursday morning after turning himself in to Fairfield police.
Police said that through their investigation, it was learned that Mishuck, a former English teacher at Fairfield Ludlowe High School, had a sexual relationship with a 17-year-old female student from July to September 2013.
"We were able to obtain forensic information, the text messages between the teacher and student," said Fairfield police Sgt. Suzanne Lussier.
In the text messages, Mishuck, who is divorced, sent texts that said things such as "I adore you and you mean the world to me" and "you drove like an INDY 500 driver to arrive so quickly...haha."
Some of the texts were sexually explicit between the student and Mishuck, according to court documents.
In other texts, they make plans to meet up. Mishuck texts that he misses her and she responds back saying the same.
"Someone that young can't consent to an act like that," Lussier said. "Someone in position of authority, someone who works for school system knows this is inappropriate."
School officials said Mishuck was an employee at the school until Oct. 6. He submitted his resignation on Oct. 7.
"When the school district was made aware of the allegation on Sept. 18, 2013 we immediately placed Mr. Mishuck on paid administrative leave and fully cooperated with the Fairfield Police Department investigation," school officials said in a statement.
Mishuck was charged with 17 counts of second-degree sexual assault and was arraigned at Bridgeport Superior Court on Thursday. Some of Mishuk's family were also in court.
The attorney for Mishuk said he's been a teacher for 20 years and he has never had any issues.
