LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -
The annual 5k run with thousands of Kris Kringles will be a bit more country this year.
Country superstar and Las Vegas Strip headliner Shania Twain has been confirmed as the grand marshal of the Las Vegas Great Santa Run.
Now in its ninth year, the Las Vegas Great Santa Run is nonprofit Opportunity Village's largest fundraiser and includes more than 10,000 Santa lookalikes.
The run is slated for Dec. 7 in downtown Las Vegas.
"It is such an honor to partner with Opportunity Village on this incredible event," said Twain. "I love getting involved with the Las Vegas community and am excited to give back to such an amazing organization this holiday season."
The race will begin at the Fremont Street Experience, continuing past several Las Vegas landmarks. Las Vegas will attempt to keep its reigning title of World Santa Challenge champion, a competition with cities including Liverpool, Tasmania and Osaka, to see which city can bring out the most Santas.
Registration is $40 for individuals, $35 for team members and $25 for kids 12 and under. Day-of registration is $50 for adults and $35 for children. Registration includes a five-piece Santa suit and gifts.
