Hartford residents in critical condition following shooting Saturday afternoon

HARTFORD, CT (WFSB) -

Police in Hartford are investigating a shooting on Bulkeley Avenue that has sent two people to the hospital.

Police were called to a home on Bulkeley Avenue on Saturday afternoon following reports of a domestic dispute involving a fire arm.

When police arrived, they located a 29-year-old female suffering from gunshot wounds to her neck and head.

Witnesses told police a male fled the scene in a white box truck.

Police began to actively search for the male and began a pursuit of the vehicle.

The suspect led police on a extensive pursuit through Hartford eventually ending on Ellsworth Street in Hartford.

Police were able to deploy "stop sticks" to stop the vehicle.

The suspect then exited his vehicle and brandished a firearm. The suspect took the firearm and placed it to his chin and pulled the trigger, shooting himself in the jaw.

The female victim is currently listed in critical but stable condition.

The male suspect was transported to the hospital where he is listed in critical but stable condition.

According to police, the suspect and the victim had been together for 11 years.

Hartford Police Major Crimes Division and domestic violence officers are currently investigating the incident.
