For now, authorities aren't saying why they believe each of the five cases are connected, but, admit this type of crime is a growing trend.
Meriden police detective Marty Eisner said that after at least one of the robberies employees turned to confront the suspect, however the suspect walked toward them and showed his firearm.
Investigators asked no one to approach the suspect and to just call the area police department.
The suspect is believed to be between the ages of 45 to 55 with "muscular to husky build" and about 5'10" to 6'.
Police are asking for the public's help identifying the suspect and have released surveillance pictures of the suspect.
"At the time of this robbery, the area of Walgreens and the intersection of Dart Hill Road and Route 83 were busy with both pedestrian and vehicle traffic. It is highly likely that someone in this area may have witnessed something that may have appeared insignificant, but may be very valuable to this investigation," Vernon police said in a statement Wednesday.
A $2,500 reward has been offered with Perdue Pharma in connection with any information leading to arrest and conviction with these robberies.
Anyone with any information is asked to call the Vernon Police Department at 860-872-9126. Calls will be kept confidential.
