Heroin, crack cocaine, marijuana seized during raid in Norwich

NORWICH, CT (WFSB) -

Police seized heroin, crack cocaine, marijuana along with money, paraphernalia and cell phones from a city apartment during a raid Thursday morning.

Investigators executed a warrant at a second-floor apartment located at 112 Chestnut St., which is close to St. Patrick School,  around 11 a.m.

The following items were seized from the apartment:

  • 24 grams of crack cocaine
  • 80 bags of heroin
  • More than 50 grams of marijuana
  • Two scales
  • Cutting agents
  • Packaging materials 
  • More than $2,200

Eric Ortiz, 30, was arrested. Police said Thursday's arrest was the third time in five months that Ortiz was arrested on drug-related charges. 

Ortiz was charged with possession of crack cocaine, possession of crack with intent to sell within 1500' of school, possession of heroin, possession of heroin with intent to sell within 1500' of school, possession of marijuana, possession of marijuana with intent to sell within 1500' of school.

Ortiz, who was released at a $50,000 bond, is scheduled to be arraigned at Norwich Superior Court on Dec. 5.

The Statewide Narcotics Taskforce assisted with the investigation.
