The Berlin Police Department announced Monday that it has obtained a grant from the state Department of Transportation's Highway Safety Division to support increased DUI patrols.
Berlin police official said the new program will run through Labor Day.
Police said the grant is expected to provide 75 percent of the reimbursement of the overtime costs associated with the program, and will also provide the funds needed to add additional DUI patrols and roadside checkpoints.
Berlin police said the operation will specifically target drivers under the influence and any other violations found during the stops.
