If your daily commute is near 51st Avenue and Buckeye Road in Phoenix, expect some delays this holiday season.
The city of Phoenix said over the next several weeks, Amazon plans to hire about 2,000 season workers who will be at the company's fulfillment center located at 4750 W. Mohave St.
City officials said drivers should expect delays from 5:30 a.m. to 7:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. weekdays through Christmas.
To plan for increased traffic, city officials said Amazon will be working with an event management company to manage on-site parking lot traffic. Police will provide street traffic control as needed, and the Street Transportation Department will monitor traffic flow.
Drivers are asked to use caution and allow extra time if driving through the area from now through the holidays.
