PHOENIX (CBS5) -

The annual countdown to ZooLights is underway at the Phoenix Zoo.

On Thanksgiving evening at 6, the grounds of the zoo will light up in a blaze of color and lighted sculptures, again heralding the start of the largest holiday light show in the Southwest.

Presented by Salt River Project and powered by EathWise Energy, organizers will flip the switch to turn on 3.7 million lights.

ZooLights runs through Jan 12. Guests can attend between 6-10 p.m. Sundays through Thursdays.

New this year, visitors can also stop by between 6 p.m. and 12 a.m. on Fridays and Saturdays. Adult beverages will be available for purchase those nights.

More than 700 lighted sculptures unique only to the Phoenix Zoo will swing through trees, hide in bushes, hop across lawns and sparkle in places where they're least expected.

The zoo said look for the Wizard of Oz's tin man, cowardly lion, scarecrow and more than 20 flying monkeys hidden throughout the grounds as a part of this new season.

Luka, the zoo's playful Andean bear cub, makes a lighted appearance this year, too.

Ticket prices vary from between $9 to $14, children ages 2 and younger are free.

Tickets can be purchased online at phoenixzoo.org or by calling 602-914-4333 Monday through Friday between 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. or at the gate.
