TEMPE, AZ (CBS5) -

A motorcyclist was lucky he wasn't seriously hurt after hitting the back of a sedan and hurtling through the its back window Wednesday.

The motorcyclist rear-ended the car just before the morning rush hour began to peak, shattering the rear window and surprising the car's driver at McClintock Drive and U.S. Highway 60 in Tempe.

The crash closed three lanes of westbound U.S. 60 for about 30 minutes, a Department of Public Safety spokesman said.

The motorcyclist was taken to Maricopa Medical Center. His condition was not released, but the DPS spokesman said he suffered only minor injuries.

No other information was immediately available.
