LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -
Biggie and Tupac, Jay Z and Nas and, now, Kanye West and Tony Hsieh?
The outspoken rapper and Kim Kardashian's husband-to-be took aim at Hsieh and his Las Vegas-based online apparel company Zappos.
In an interview posted Monday on writer Bret Easton Ellis' podcast, West, who has recorded numerous mentions of high-end fashions and labels in the past, referred to Hsieh's company as one that sells "sh-t product."
"I got into this giant argument with the head of Zappos that he's trying to tell me what I need to focus on. Meanwhile, he sells all this sh-t product to everybody, his whole thing is based off of selling sh-t product," Kanye stated in the podcast.
As reported by E! Online, West referred to a recent meeting he had with the Zappos CEO in Las Vegas as well as a possible collaboration with the brand.
On Wednesday, Zappos appeared to own up to Kanye's labeling of the company, sort of.
On the retailer's website, a "Zappos.com Gear Sh-t Product" was made available for sale with multi-angle pictures of a toilet and a plunger. Under item information, the website touts it as "the perfect gift for the man that has everything" and "'Taylor' made for ‘Swift' cleaning."
The website goes on with a tongue-in-cheek descriptor of Zappos as a whole using some of Kanye's words.
"Interested in buying sh-t product? You've come to the right place! Here at Zappos.com, we happily sell sh-t products to everybody!" the description says.
The website lists the product for $100,000 and it comes in a "sh-t" size. Shipping is still free.
