MESA, AZ (CBS5) -
Three employees of a Mesa restoration business were arrested Wednesday on suspicion of forgery and using false IDs.
The Maricopa County Sheriff's Office Criminal Employment Squad served a search warrant on East Valley Disaster Services at 257 W. Broadway Rd. on Nov. 20. The business specializes in repairing water, fire and smoke damage to homes and businesses.
MCSO began investigating the company after deputies received a tip that as many as ten workers were suspected of identity theft.
Three suspects were booked into the Fourth Avenue Jail on charges of ID theft and forgery.
East Valley Disaster Services spokeswoman Vessa Olshove said the company is in compliance with all employment laws. Olshove went on to say the required paperwork was received and E-verify was performed on each employee.
"East Valley Disaster Services wants to make clear to our clients, community and the public that we are in compliance with all laws pertaining to employee hiring practices and are still the same reputable company we have always been," Olshove said in a statement released Friday.
