Governor Brewer responds to report of 6,000 CPS cases uninvestigated

PHOENIX (CBS5) -

At least one employee of Child Protective Services has been mislabeling cases since 2009.

The problem was just uncovered in the last 10 days.

The 6000 cases came from their hotline, where people can call in reports of potential child abuse.

We caught up with Governor Jan Brewer today to ask her what she plans to do about it.

"We're not going to rest until every case is investigated," Brewer told CBS 5 News. "We absolutely have to have accountability and we will investigate, and we will certainly find out where the break is in the chain of command and we will call for accountability."

Governor Brewer said the Department of Public Safety will immediately begin investigating their process to prevent this from happening again.
