AUSTIN, TX (CBS5) -

A jury has found a former NFL player guilty of tax evasion.

IRS Criminal Investigation officers said Gregory P. Boyd, 62, formerly of Scottsdale, AZ, was convicted Thursday night of three counts of tax evasion after a four-day trial.

Boyd was indicted in Texas in March for violations on his tax returns. Authorities said Boyd filed Federal Tax Returns showing he earned no money when he had made an excess of $180,000 in 2004, $390,000 in 2005 and $225,000 in 2006.

Boyd was selected in the 13th round of the 1973 NFL draft by the Miami Dolphins, ended up being traded to the New England Patriots and later played for the New Orleans Saints.
