The Tuscaloosa County Chapter of the Alabama Alumni Association is offering a charter bus trip for fans headed to the Iron Bowl. Organizers say you don't have to be a member of the Alumni Association to go, but you need to call in advance. They're asking people to arrive at Coleman Coliseum on Saturday at 7:30 a.m. The bus will depart at 8 a.m. and return shortly after the game. The cost is $60 per person. After the cost of the bus is paid, the rest of the money will be used for scholarships.
Organizers say the Iron Bowl is always big, but this year definitely exceeded their expectations. "When we started tossing around the idea of taking buses, this Auburn game didn't look like much of a game, really," Helen Smith, with the Tuscaloosa County Alumni Chapter, said. "And as the season has moved on, this has just become a bigger and bigger game, and now it is historic."
Smith also says people who are booking seats are thrilled just to have tickets. She says the group is excited to represent the Tuscaloosa area in Auburn. "We're kind of the mother chapter of the Alumni Association, if you will, and to be able to offer this and for all of us to go together, it's just going to be so much fun."
