Passenger ejected from car after crash, driver hits and kills her
CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) -
Cleveland police have arrested a woman after she rear-ended a car, and then ran over and killed a passenger who was ejected from her vehicle.
The accident happened near Coltman Avenue and Euclid Avenue at 3 a.m.
Police say that Shamanique Bryant, 28, was speeding while intoxicated on Euclid Avenue when she rear-ended a Chrysler, causing the passenger in her Alero, 24-year-old Mattie Stubbs, to be ejected.
Bryant then continued to drive down Euclid Avenue away from the accident.
Reports say Bryant stopped to remove the rear seat passenger from her vehicle, who police believe to be her brother, and attempted to perform CPR. Police say the man had been shot in the abdomen at Park Avenue Night Club in East Cleveland.
Bryant then got back in the car, drove back toward the scene of the accident, and ran over Stubbs who was in the street.
Police pronounced Stubbs dead upon arrival.
A University Circle Police officer arrived on scene first and detained Bryant for Cleveland Police Officers. Bryant and the man who had been shot were treated at MetroHealth Medical Center for their injuries.
Bryant was placed under arrest for Aggravated Vehicular Homicide and leaving the scene of an accident. OVI charges will be filed following test results.
The driver and two passengers of the other vehicle were treated for non-life threatening injuries at MetroHealth Medical Center.
