SIMSBURY, CT (WFSB) -

Simsbury Police are telling the public to use caution if they see a dog which recently escaped from a Bloomfield facility.

According to police, a very large black and tan Rottweiler escaped from a kennel on Rescue Lane Dec. 2. The dog is reported to be aggressive to humans and animals.

Police said the dog was spotted several times Dec. 7 in West Simsbury. The dog did not display any aggressive signs and had several non-aggressive, but distant interactions with people and other dogs.

Animal Control Officer Mark Rudewicz had a non-aggressive distant interaction with the dog on Saturday while attempting to apprehend it. The dog ran from people and other dogs and was last seen in the area of Tollgate Lane in West Simsbury around 3:45 p.m.

If you have seen the dog, Simsbury officials ask that you contact your local police department.
