Waterbury cop injured after armed robbery

WATERBURY, CT (WFSB) -

A Waterbury police officer was injured as suspects tried to flee from an armed robbery.

According to police, two suspects in the robbery were approached by officers on Ridgewood Street after allegedly committing the robbery on nearby Coe Street.

As the officers approached on foot, one of the suspects drove at the officers, striking one and nearly striking the second. The second officer fired at the vehicle and eventually the suspects were taken into custody.

Police said the officer who was struck suffered minor injuries. No further information was immediately available.
