Hope you are having a great week before Christmas! We've been playing shift swap around the weather department! I filled in for Nicole on the morning show on Friday and Monday, and I'm now back to normal. Ted Phaeton worked my shift, and you'll see more of him through the holidays! He is our new weekend meteorologist, and if you want to welcome him to the team just shoot him an email! firstname.lastname@example.org
We are so excited to have Ted here! He's enjoying a day off before coming back to work for Nicole later this week... and what a day off this is! Gorgeous blue sky and pleasant temperatures are the rule today, but things will change just a bit tonight and tomorrow. A front is going to cool us back down in the 50s tomorrow for highs in the Upstate, while the mountains will only warm into the 40s. Sunshine should still dominate through Thursday, then we cloud up and warm up for Friday and the weekend.
I've been looking at the different computer model runs very closely in an effort to time out the weekend rain. Right now it looks like Sunday will be the wettest day, with heavy rain and even t-storms possible. Our severe weather threat will be low, but some gusty winds and occasional lightning will be possible. There's a chance that some of that heavy rain could go into Monday as well, but we should clear by Monday night! That leaves us with sunshine for Christmas Eve and Day! Also, temperatures will cool down nicely so it will FEEL a little more like the season. We'll go from 60s and 70s this weekend to highs in the 40s and low 50s around Christmas. The chance of a white Christmas is pretty low as it looks now... about 10% or less. I'll let you know if that changes!
