A driver who fled from Phoenix police and collided with at least three other vehicles Sunday night has been taken into custody.
A Phoenix police helicopter saw two vehicles speeding westbound on Thomas Road about 8:30 p.m. Sunday. Officers said they appeared to be racing and an officer attempted to stop one of the vehicles.
Police said they did not chase the driver and instead followed him by police helicopter, from where they saw the driver strike at least three vehicles on 87th Avenue, south of Thomas Road.
There were minor injuries in the collision.
The driver tried to get away again but was later booked for unlawful flight and resisting arrest.
His identity has not been released.
