Mesa police say a missing 13-year-old boy ran away from his home Monday.

Jophrey Cord wasn't in his bed when family members went to wake him Tuesday morning, finding instead a note stating he was running away and the family would be better without him, Mesa police said.

He was last seen about 4 a.m. Monday at his home near Meridian and Mesquite streets.

He is described as white, 5'6", 130 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes.

He wears eyeglasses and was last seen in a purple shirt, jeans, a light blue hooded sweatshirt with "Hurley" on the front, a fleece-lined jacket and skater shoes.

Police said he had no cell phone or money with him.

Anyone with information about Jophrey's whereabouts was asked to call the Mesa Police Department.
