PHOENIX (CBS5) -

A man standing on the sidewalk waiting to cross the street was struck and killed by an SUV spinning out of control from a two-car crash, police said.

Phoenix Police Department spokesman Steve Martos said the victim has been identified as 37-year-old Cameron Matthew Hall.

A car traveling westbound on Greenway tried to turn left onto 29th Street and hit the SUV that was heading eastbound, officers said.

The SUV spun after getting hit and struck the pedestrian.

The intersection at 29th Street and Greenway was closed for several hours while police investigated.

Police said impairment was not a factor in the collision.
