Scottsdale block party expects 3,500 people to ring in new year

SCOTTSDALE, AZ (CBS5) -

The 12th Annual Scottsdale Block Party got underway with live music, spirits, and adifferent theme this time around - country music.

"As yousee, I've got my side burns going on for the country theme so it gives me achance to get in the spirit," said Rock Bar bartender Murphy Murphy.

The blockparty is a collaborative effort between Dos Gringos and Rock Bar. This yearthey sold about 1400 tickets in presales and expect to see about 3500 peopletotal show up.

"I lovecountry music so that's why I'm here," Jennifer French said.

2013 was agreat year for many people out celebrating.

"I gotengaged, I got a great job at Dos, Gringos, and it's been awesome," Ela Tishsaid.

"I finallybought my first house and got everything straightened out in my life," MarcLegere said.

"I starteda new career in real estate so it's been going really good," Sarah Legere said.

But somepeople were already planning their resolutions to make the next year evenbetter.

 "I want to have a lot more fun," JenniferKoury said. "I'm getting older, so I want to really have a good time and havesome fun this year."

"Work out more,get these muscles bigger," Murphy said.

"Myresolution this year is just forget that, go with the flow, live life and behappy," Tish said.
