New Haven man critical after being shot in the head

NEW HAVEN, CT (WFSB) -

A 20-year-old man is fighting for his life after police said he was shot in the head while at a New Year's Eve party at a New Haven hotel Wednesday morning.

According to police, they were called to the La Quinta Inn on Sergeant Drive after getting numerous 911 calls reporting the shooting, as well as fights that broke out during and after the incident.

New Haven police said they were met with a chaotic scene and dozens of disorderly people.

"There was marijuana and drinkin," said Asia Wiggins of New Haven. 

When police arrived, they found the victim, who was later identified as Lloyd R. Streeter Jr., of New Haven.

Streeter was rushed to Yale-New Haven Hospital where he is listed in critical condition.

Investigators said they don't know why the victim was shot and the shooting remains under investigation.
