PHOENIX (CBS5) -
The man charged with kidnapping and sexual conduct with an 8-year-old Mesa girl was sentenced to 19 years in prison and lifetime probation Tuesday.
Judge M. Scott McCoy sentenced Robert Milliron, 22, in Maricopa County Superior Court on one count of sexual conduct with a minor and one count of kidnapping, and also is required to register as a sex offender upon his release.
He pleaded guilty to the charges on Feb. 2.
Investigators said Milliron snatched the girl off her bike on Dec. 22 in front of the apartment complex where she lived.
He admitted to the kidnapping and said he took the child because he was lonely and wanted a companion, a Mesa police spokesman said.
The girl was able to escape after Milliron crashed his getaway car into a wall in a nearby alley, the spokesman said.
Milliron lived in the same apartment complex as the girl, but the two didn't know each other, the spokesman said.
He was originally booked into jail on charges of felony kidnapping, unlawful imprisonment, aggravated assault and hit-and-run.
