CALICO ROCK, AR (KAIT) – A Region 8 man spent Christmas in jail after deputies say a video of him slapping his two-year-old son was accidentally sent to the child's grandmother.
Izard County sheriff's deputies and a Department of Human Services caseworker were called to a home in Calico Rock on Christmas Day in reference to a child being physically abused.
According to Sheriff Tate Lawrence, 23-year-old Brian Boehm was videotaped slapping his son and knocking the child to the floor.
The sheriff said the child's mother, Alyssa Boehm, can be heard on the video saying "good job."
Then the video ended.
The video was apparently sent to Alyssa Boehm's mother in Indiana by mistake. The grandmother then called the sheriff's department, Lawrence said.
When deputies and the caseworker went to check on the child's well-being, Lawrence said they found the boy in an upstairs bedroom locked from the outside by a chain-type lock. The sheriff said the second-floor room also had a door leading to a balcony.
Deputies arrested Brian Boehm and took him to the Izard County Detention Center. He was released on December 28 after posting bond.
Boehm is due in court on January 9.
