State police closed I-84 in both directions in Tolland after a quick-moving snow squall left the roads covered and trucks stranded early Tuesday morning.
Police said several tractor-trailer trucks became stuck in both the east and westbound lanes between exits 67 and 68. The roadway was closed in both directions until trucks from the Department of Transportation arrived in the area to plow and treat the roadway.
Officials were able to reopen the eastbound lanes about an hour and a half later, and the westbound lanes were reopened after that.
DOT officials are advising motorists to avoid travel between Vernon and Sturbridge, MA, because of the slick conditions.
