A banana-eating burglar struck a gas station in Newington early Wednesday morning, according to police.
Officers said the burglar alarm was tripped at the Citgo on Cedar Street around 1:48 a.m.
When they arrived, they said there was extensive damage to the north entry doors but the only thing missing was a banana.
Surveillance pictures are being reviewed.
They believe that damage was caused by a motor vehicle, possibly a light-colored Ford Freestyle station wagon with Connecticut plates.
Investigators said the photos show the car backing into the store entrance several times.
They describe the suspect as a man wearing a dark jacket, dark pants and a brown hat.
Officers also said he was not wearing a mask and was caught on camera eating a banana swiped from a shelf.
"I don't believe that," said Ronny Key, who noticed the damage Wednesday. "I would have thought some money, cigarettes or something."
No other items were taken, police said.
They said the offender's car sustained damage to the driver's side rear bumper and tail light.
Anyone with information is asked to call the Newington Police Department at 860-666-8445.
