MESA, AZ (CBS5) -

A combative man was shocked with a stun gun by police after allegedly assaulting a passenger on a Valley bus, authorities said.

Paul Daniel Aguilar, 37, reportedly attacked a rider on a Valley Metro bus about 9 p.m. Wednesday, Mesa police spokesman Sgt. Tony Landato said.

When officers tried to detain Aguilar, he "became belligerent and combative," Landato said.

Officers then shocked him with a stun gun and he was taken into custody.

He was booked into the Mesa City Jail on charges of assault and disorderly conduct.
