PHOENIX (CBS5) -

When friends of one Valley woman found out she and her family were in need, they really went the extra mile.

There are groups of girlfriends throughout the country, all have their stories, private jokes and moments that bond them together, but when polling one inseparable quartet, a pattern emerges.

"There are very few people that I have come across in my lifetime that are genuinely good," Anna Figueroa said.

"She always has a smile. She always says things are going to work out and things are going to be fine," Jan Bobula said.

"She should have everything she needs because of what she does. She's selfless," Amy Wagner said.

The ladies said Olga Ramos is the first to volunteer when a friend or a stranger is in need.

When the ladies learned that Ramos, who lives with her in-laws, husband and two children, had to choose between Christmas presents for her little ones and replacing a year-long broken water heater, they stepped in.

"It's hard on my kids, you know, when you tell them, 'go take a shower' and they ask, 'is the water warm?' That's when you feel a bit frustrated, and you just need to put it in a nice way so they don't feel affected by it," Ramos said.

This week, Ramos' gal pals presented her with $500.

Ramos' friends said she helped countless others while her family did without.

"When you love people, you just give out and you don't expect anything, and just blessed to have them with you and that's it," Ramos said.
