A man in Wallingford was charged with trying to steal a 50-inch television by simply walking out the front door of a store, then trying to steal a car.
Police said Eddie Feliciano, of Hartford, managed to get to the parking lot of Walmart with the TV under his arms before security tried to stop him.
"That's a pretty gutsy," said one customer. "That's not like you can hide it under your coat."
When security spotted him, Feliciano fled into a wooded area. That's when police said they showed up and started a search.
Feliciano then tried to carjack a customer in the parking lot, but police said the driver kicked him out.
"I'd like to think I'd have my wits about me and be able to kick someone out of the car," said another customer, "but I'm 5'3"."
Feliciano was arrested at that point, according to officers.
No one was hurt.
Feliciano was charged with attempted carjacking and stealing, said police.
They also said the suspect had a lengthy criminal history which includes gun and assault convictions.
