Every Jan. 26 for the last seven years, family and friends of Randy Lucero light candles and say a prayer before walking the neighborhood he used to call home.
"I would really like to see our family at peace," said Lucero's daughter Vanessa Lucero.
In 2007, Randy Lucero was found beaten to death inside his apartment at the corner of University and 65th Street.
The few leads police had went nowhere and the case quickly turned cold.
Vanessa Lucero described her dad as an awesome parent.
"He was a single father of two kids and eventually a third. He raised us pretty good I'd say.  We were very well taken care of," said Vanessa Lucero.
Nadine Thomason is Lucero's sister. She traveled to the Valley from New Mexico.
"You would just never forget him. You would meet him and in just a matter of seconds he would have an impact on you," said Thomason.
Thomason told CBS 5 News the next time she's in Arizona she wants it to be in a court room, not another night walking without answers.
"We're not going to give up hope. I definitely feel that someday somebody is going to come forward," said Thomason.
Investigators believe the person who killed Lucero likely knew him.
"Somebody was allowed in that home. There was no sign of forced entry," said Silent Witness Sgt. Darren Burch.
