Snow and ice all over the FOX6 viewing area have made roads impassable and stranded students and drivers.
Many are helping by taking strangers into the homes, delivering food and other essential items to shelters and places that have become shelters out of necessity. Good Samaritans have been tweeting and posting on Facebook to offer help.
If you need help or want to offer help in the Birmingham area, check out the Stranded Motorists Help Jan. 28, 2014 group on Facebook. People in the Stranded Motorists group are asking for assistance as well as offering help or shelter.
The Facebook group's organizer sent us a list of the people who have been rescued so far, and it appears that at least 11 people have been rescued thanks to efforts organized through the page. Many other people have been located and are safe.
