TOLEDO, OH (Toledo News Now) -

The Zac Brown Band brought an audience to the Huntington Center for a concert on Wednesday, but his visit to Toledo became about more than just a performance when he sent his personal chef over to feed some Toledo firefighters.

Thanks to a member of a neighboring fire department reaching out to the fan club, Chef Rusty and some friends showed up with a meal to warm the hearts and bellies of a fire department that's been through a lot lately after the deaths of Privates Stephen Machcinski and James Dickman.

"The firefighters were overwhelmed by the outpouring of support from the community, and it's amazing to be caught up in that wave," said a friend of the chef, who was there. "It feels good to give."

Steak, chicken, salmon – all on the plate for the men and women who give Toledo their all.

Chef Rusty spent about 40 minutes at Station 5, sharing a meal and making memories.

"Rusty reverted back to a 5-year-old," his friend said. "He got on the truck, they turned on the lights and, you know, they showed us everything and how it all works."

Feeding Toledo firefighters doesn't stop with Chef Rusty. The Feed our Toledo Firefighters group is planning to bring meals to all Toledo departments on the 26th of every month. Visit their page to see how you can help.
