WATERFORD, CT (WFSB) -

Firefighters are investigating an unidentifiable gas odor in Waterford that caused emergency officials to evacuate one home on Friday evening.

According to police, a woman smelled the odor at a residence in the 100 block of Shore Road around 6 p.m.

Firefighters, who were next door, came over to investigate the smell and they called the Connecticut Department of Energy & Environmental Protection to assist in the investigation.

The DEEP's hand held units were unable to detect what the odor was, so the DEEP mobile lab was called to the scene.

There were no reported injuries at this time.
