Police arrested 13 people, who were involved with two "prominent drug gangs" operating in New Haven, during a raid.

While investigating the "Playboys" or "88 Boys" gangs, police determined that their members were in possession of drugs and drug paraphernalia.

The police conducted a drug raid at two locations, 12 Bouchet Ln. and 397 Foxon Rd. During the raid, investigators seized drug paraphernalia and two facsimile handguns.

Police also searched an apartment at 437 Eastern St. where investigators seized 8 grams of crack cocaine, 60 bags of heroin, drug packaging material, nearly $1,400 and a West Haven Police Department portable radio.

In total, 12 men and 1 woman were arrested.

Police arrested 18-year-old Vincent Clark, aka "Pudge," and 25-year-old Edwin Rodriguez, aka "Shorty," both of New Haven.

They were found in possession of 21 bags of heroin, 15 bags of crack cocaine and just short of $900, police said.

The arrests also include:

  • Shan Thompson, 25, of New Haven
  • Justin Q Wright, aka "Pooka," 23, of New Haven
  • Vincente Ayala, 23, of New Haven
  • Jose Nieves, aka "Dave," 26, of New Haven

  • Mark Harvin, 22, of New Haven
  • Timothy Ingram, 23, of New Haven

Police said they expect to make more arrests.

"The area off exit 8 (I-91) has seen a great deal of gang related drug trade and violence. This round-up will, no doubt, put a huge dent in this activity," said New Haven Police Sgt. Karl Jacobson.
