Woman rushed to hospital after West Haven fire

WEST HAVEN, CT (WFSB) -

Firefighters in West Haven pulled a woman from a burning home Thursday morning.

The fire was reported shortly before 5:30 a.m. at a home on Wilson Avenue.

Officials said when they arrived, they found the basement of the home full of flames.

Firefighters rescued a woman on the first floor of the home, officials said. She was rushed to an area hospital with unknown injuries. Three other people were able to escape the home safely.

Firefighters have since been able to get the flames knocked down, but the cause of the fire remains under investigation.

Officials said warmer temperatures prevented hoses from freezing, but surfaces around the home were slippery, which did pose some issues for firefighters.
