A portion of route 286 in Ellington was closed after a driver crashed into a utility pole early Sunday morning.
According to police, a section of the road near Windemere Road was shut down following the crash. It was reopened later in the day.
"It was a pole right at the corner Windemere Avenue and Pinney Street, which happened to bring down utilities to both streets," Assistant Fire Chief Gary Feldman said. "So it's going to be awhile. The power company says it's going to be about two hours before they even power out and a good portion of the day before they get the pole replaced."
Power was restored later Sunday.
The male driver of the car was able to walk away from the accident with minor injuries.
