WESTPORT, CT (WFSB) -

Police in Westport said a mother surrendered to them Friday after learning of an outstanding warrant for the theft of a restaurant tip jar.

Stacy Flanagan of Fairfield was arrested for the Dec. 31 incident.

Police said Flanagan entered the restaurant with her two small children and while the cashier was distracted, stole a tip jar off of the counter to pay for her own order.

An anonymous tip led to the identification of Flanagan, they said.

Officers said Flanagan later admitted to taking the money.

She was charged with risk of injury and sixth-degree larceny.

Flanagan was released after posting $2,500 bond, according to police.

She's due in Norwalk Superior Court on March 3.
