Authorities say a Wilcox County mother has been arrested and charged in the shooting death of her son.
District Attorney Michael Jackson says Fronie Banks, 62, has been charged with manslaughter in the death of her son, Theodore Banks, 28. The shooting happened late Thursday night or early Friday morning in the Awin community outside of Pine Apple.
It happened at Fronie Banks' home in a trailer park at the corner of Alabama Highway 47 and Highway 10, according to Jackson.
Jackson said there was a history of domestic violence in the home, and Theodore Banks had allegedly assaulted Fronie Banks before the shooting. Authorities say they're investigating whether or not this is a case of self defense.
Fronie Banks was booked and later released bond from the Wilcox County Jail Friday morning.
