LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -

Police said an elderly woman was driving a truck when it plowed through a Las Vegas grocery store on Saturday, injuring 26 people.

The crash happened about 3 p.m. at the Food 4 Less grocery store at the intersection of Eastern and Sahara avenues.

Police said the pickup clipped a car in the parking lot before crashing through the front entrance of the store. They said the vehicle made it to the cooler section in the back of the store before it came to a stop.

"I heard a loud bang," said Janice Gilbert, a witness. "My kids and I kind of jumped at first, and then we were like, 'Oh! It's just some kids outside playing with firecrackers.'"

"The checkout aisles - it just wiped them clean like they were not even there," said Angel Montalvo, another witness. "There were people on the floor. There was a big mess everywhere. It was kind of like in a movie. It was a scary site."

Investigators said they are still trying to figure out what caused the truck to veer into the store.

"Somehow she lost control of her vehicle," said Lt. Ken Romane, of Las Vegas Metro police. "We're not exactly sure. It's an ongoing investigation."

As of Monday morning, no charges had been filed in connection with the crash.

Of the 26 who were injured, nine were hospitalized. The remainder were treated at the scene.

The store reopened Sunday.
