Walmart plans to build a store in La Vergne, and the planning commission will meet later this month to vote on the proposal.
The new store would be built near the corner of Murfreesboro and Fergus roads, and city officials say it would add about 400 new jobs to the community.
In addition to the jobs, the sales tax revenue from the new store will significantly impact the city's bottom line, Mayor Senna Mosley said in a press release Monday.
Announcements for other stores and new restaurants coming to the area are expected soon.
City planners are set to meet March 25.
