A school bus with children from Wilcox Tech was hit by BB's while traveling on a street in Meriden Tuesday morning.
An undisclosed amount of students were riding the Wilcox Tech Carpentry bus on an unreleased street around 10 a.m. when the BB's hit the vehicle, school officials said in a posting on its website.
School officials said there was damage to the windows of the bus, but did not say if any students were injured.
"The school is actively addressing student and parent concerns. We are all working together to ensure the wellbeing of our school community at this time," principal Lisa Hylwa said in the post on the Wilcox Tech website.
Hylwa said it is being regarded as an "isolated incident" and the police are investigating the shooting.
"I certainly think the school property on Oregon Road is very safe but as any prudent administrator would do, I have stepped up our security team and have required custodians and staff to lock all exterior doors and to student monitor traffic until the close of school today," Hylwa said.
